Statement from October Books

Hi all!

After the recent government advice about returning to work, and numerous friendly enquiries from you lot, we wanted to keep you informed of our plans in regards to reopening the shop floor.

We will remain closed for the foreseeable.

We are still taking orders by email and phone, so please keep supporting us in this way.

The team will be reassessing this on a weekly basis, and when the time comes that we have a consensus that it is safe to open our doors to you all, we will do so in a thoughtful and measured way.

We have a detailed action plan already prepared for reopening. We have ordered PPE for the team, alongside protective social distancing measures that we can use on the shop floor - this is coming from our book suppliers Gardners. The Booksellers Association are supplying us with signage to make sure all new processes are clear for everyone wishing to use the shop. And finally, you can rest assured that we are all thinking about the best way of ensuring your safety, and will be taking the necessary steps when the time is right for us to open.

That time is not now.

The incredible support we’re receiving through your customer orders is giving us more than enough to do, so we will continue as we have been over the last few weeks by taking your orders and delivering directly to your homes.

Thank you for your support and encouragement so far - the kind words in your emails and calls are shared with the team, and really do mean a lot.

Until we can see you again in person, please stay safe :)

The OB Team xx

We are taking, processing and delivering your orders on Monday / Wednesday / Friday / Saturday from 10am to 4pm. This includes bank holiday Monday 25th May! We can’t wait to hear from you!

And please keep adding those food bank items to your orders if you can - they are so gratefully received.
