Our favourite day of the year is here: World Book Day ®
A mountain of boxes descended on the shop recently, with over 3000 books ready to be sorted. These books have been donated by us free to local schools as we are passionate about inspiring children in the wonder of reading.
Our Work with Schools
October Books have wonderful partnerships with local Southampton schools and some beyond the city boundary. These connections are particularly important to us as we wish to help inspire children in the wonder of reading and all the riches gained. Click on article find out more.

Reading Buddies is a reading intervention delivered by the University of Southampton in collaboration with Cantell School and newly this year, St George. School students are paired 1:1 or in small groups with University and College students to read for at least one half an hour session a week. The sessions include reading aloud to each other and discussing the text. Hear here of experiences of being part of the scheme by two Reading Buddies
