Join Kevin and Rosanna to explore some of the more humorous, joyful, mocking, and satirical aspects of queer sensibility.

In their new books, Whatever Happened to Queer Happiness and Sinkhole: Three Crimes, Kevin and Rosanna explore the satirical aspects of queer sensibility, turning them on everything from the state of contemporary Britain to the pretensions of queerness itself.

Kevin and Rosanna are both widely published critics and essayists, and are two of the most thought provoking commentators on contemporary culture today, writing on everything from global art biennales to the pleasures of Ariana Grande. Both share a joyfully skeptical perspective on some of the most self-important aspects of contemporary art and queer writing, and in reading and discussion from their new books, they are sure to bring some of that sensibility here to October Books!

Rosanna McLaughlin is an author and cultural critic. Double-Tracking, her debut collection of satirical essays and short fiction on the subject of middle-class duplicities, was published by Carcanet in 2019. In 2017, she was writer-in-residence for the British Council Caribbean, researching the political fallout following the death of the artist Ana Mendieta. Her reviews and essays have been published in frieze magazine, ArtReview and the Guardian, among other places. She is co-editor of The White Review.

Kevin Brazil is a writer and critic who currently lives in Berlin. He grew up in County Wexford, Ireland, and studied English at Trinity College, Dublin, and Oxford. His essays and criticism have appeared in Granta, Frieze, The White Review, the London Review of Books, the Times Literary Supplement, Art Review, art-agenda, Studio International, and elsewhere.
