Pre-order now! The Disappearance of Josef Mengele by Olivier Guez

Josef Mengele: former doctor, prisoner of war, eventual refugee… And escaped Nazi War-Criminal.

In The Disappearance of Josef Mengele, Olivier Guez brings his objective journalistic style to bare on the facts of one of history’s greatest monsters: The Angel of Death. Having performed countless inhumane, evil experiments during the Nazi regime, Mengele escaped - like so many other high-ranking Nazi officials and war-criminals - to Argentina. Guez’s startling and richly detailed non-fiction novel follows Mengele’s adaptation to new life in Argentina, as well as exposing the means and mechanics of how a proto-fascist state was allowed to take root in South America. A history, and a warning, The Disappearance of Josef Mengele is a startling, raw work of immense power.

The Disappearance of Josef Mengele by Olivier Guez

Paperback £11.999/8/22

For three decades, until the day he collapsed in the Brazilian surf in 1979, Josef Mengele, the Angel of Death who performed horrific experiments on the prisoners of Auschwitz, floated through South America in linen suits, keeping two steps ahead of Mossad agents, international police and the world's journalists. In this rigorusly researched factual novel-drawn almost entirely from historical documents-Olivier Guez traces Mengele's footsteps through these years of flight. This chilling novel situates the reader in a literary manhunt on the trail of one of the most elusive and evil figures of the twentieth century.

We are able to be open 6 days a week again because of your consideration and care whilst in the shop. Though things are opening up, covid cases are still high and a lot of our staff have only received one jab. So we are asking customers to continue to leave that extra space, sanitise their hands and pull on their mask. We really appreciate it.
