Navigating Women's Experiences in "Blue on a Blue Palette" by Lynne Thompson

Lynne Thompson, the fourth Poet Laureate for the City of Los Angeles, brings forth a poignant reflection on women's lives in her latest book, ‘Blue on a Blue Palette’. Born to Caribbean immigrants, Thompson's collection dives into the depths of female experiences, showcasing resilience amidst adversity.

"Blue on a Blue Palette" showcases Thompson's versatility, spanning various poetic forms from abecedarians to free verse to centos. Each poem serves as a brushstroke on the canvas of womanhood, capturing the nuances of joy, sorrow, and resilience.

At its core, the collection delves into the condition of women, highlighting their joys despite their histories and their perseverance in the face of challenges like race, culture, the pandemic, and climate crisis. Through her words, Thompson urges readers to confront these realities and amplify women's voices.

We are delighted to be welcoming her into the shop next month for her author talk and signing on Wednesday 8th May. Readers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Thompson's work and explore the complexities of human emotion. "Blue on a Blue Palette" invites us to embrace our history, celebrate our wildness, and stand in solidarity with women everywhere.
